2007-2008 Nethderlands/Luxembourg	European Commission - DG Eurostat: Streamlining the environmental indicator sets used in Europe. Making an inventory of all relevant indicators in the various Europe-wide indicator sets (Eurostat, EEA, JRC, OECD, UN/ECE) and the associated meta information. Determining the potential for harmonization and streamlining taking due account of the specific objectives of the indicators. Nomenclature, as well as meta information are harmonized and duplicates were eliminated. Further Development of a system to produce the indicators more cost-efficient. The developed methodology was also to be applied to the development of new indicators and indicator sets. The project aims at developing the service of the new European 'data centers' in the context of the future common Shared European Environmental Information system.
2007 Kosovo	European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR): "Further institutional support to the Kosovo Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning". The aim was to support the newly established Kosovo Environment Agency (KEPA/AKMM) in setting up a systematic approach to organizing and implementing a system for environmental monitoring and reporting that meets Kosovo's environmental strategy and environmental laws, the EU acquis communautaire and other international requirements .
2007 Netherlands/Luxembourg	European Commission - DG Eurostat: Dissemination of EU sustainable development indicators. Our contribution to this project consisted of: • assistance in creating an indicator-based report on the progress of the implementation of the European Strategy for Sustainable Development; • make short contributions with analysis of certain aspects of sustainable development, based on updated data; • producing a leaflet summarizing the main developments in the Sustainability Indicators.

Inventory of GIS and Remote Sensing skills and abilities. The project provided the EMA the necessary basis should the cooperation with Kosovo be intensified.

Introduction of TQM / ISO 9001 as a guiding principle for the development of their environmental information. Assistance with the development of an emission registration based on the E-PRTR standards. Assistance in designing their environmental monitoring strategy.

Design of a collection system, risk assessment, plan for phased implementation of the system and propose the necessary regulations and amendments to the Law on Dangerous Substances.
2001 Netherlands	Province of Limburg: Pilot project concerning European legislation. European legislative acts directly and indirectly work down to the tasks and activities of the Environment and Water Division of the Province. By the principle of subsidiarity, provinces themselves are responsible for the proper implementation of European legislation. Delays or incorrect transposition of European directives in Dutch legislation by the Ministry of Housing thus represent a potential legal and financial risk to the province. Provincial requirements and positions should therefore be introduced in Brussels in early stage. A comprehensive approach to European policy making, the transposition to national policy and advocacy opportunities is made and the results are incorporated into the primary work of the department.

The concept was developed because the Pressure-State-Response model is not suitable to include all of the elements of sustainable development. The conceptual framework was presented at a workshop organized by the New Economics Foundation in London and is listed in the World Resources Institute / SCOPE report, "Environmental Indicators A systematic approach to measuring and reporting on environmental policy performance in the context of sustainable development '.

The indicators provide a translation from national to provincial policy goals. The methodology is also used to monitor the provincial objectives and targets, which can partly be monitored whether or not national targets will be met.
1994 Netherlands	DCMR: Development of a monitoring system for Rijnmond (Greater Rotterdam Area). The system identifies the major environmental problems in the region and produces periodic monitoring reports based on indicators. Also, the underlying information structure is designed as a basis for environmental reporting. It has been observed that various information sources in the region show differences in data and trends, and that institutions often disagree about the validity of these numbers.To curb this,the organizations will be progressively cooperating in a shared information basis.

The ELT Benchmark methodology and presentation form received the Teyler Environment Award for professionals in 1994. The jury praised the way in which the ELT provides insight into complex matters to the the layperson.
